1. Communion – Living as One Body in Christ through Baptism/Confirmation/Eucharist. • We will welcome all as brothers and sisters in the family of God on one paschal journey. • We will revere the diversity of spiritual gifts and promote unity in the Body of Christ. • We will nurture unity in our families, parishes, Diocese, and with the Universal Church. • We will live in solidarity, with a firm and persevering determination to the common good of all people and of each individual, especially the most vulnerable members of society.
2. Mercy – God’s steadfast unconditional love for us and our imitation of His love for others. • We will invite everyone to receive God’s mercy through the sacraments. • We will welcome and accompany those who are not able to receive the sacraments. • We will be merciful like our heavenly Father through compassionate ministries. • We will forgive as the Lord has forgiven us. • We will envision our parish as a “field hospital” emanating charity and healing in society.
3. Prayer – the living relationship of the children of God with their Father who is good beyond measure, with his Son Jesus Christ, and with the Holy Spirit (CCC 2565). • We will deepen our relationship with God through intentional times of personal and family prayer each day. • We will participate in the Sacrament of the Eucharist weekly. • We will begin each meeting with 10-15 minutes of prayer and reflection with Scripture (e.g., Lectio Divina). • We will consistently provide prayer experiences in faith formation and ministries. • We will trust in the guidance of Holy Spirit and the providence of God.
4. Stewardship – Responding to God’s call to be coworkers in his vineyard – in the work of creation, redemption, and sanctification. • We will form intentional disciples who joyfully proclaim the Gospel to all they meet. • We will be co-responsible for the mission of Christ to the world. • Each day we will examine our generosity as stewards by recalling God’s abundant gifts. • We will care for creation as our common home. • We will promote the vocation of marriage and the dignity of the family. • We will nurture vocations to ecclesial lay ministry, consecrated life, and Holy Orders. • We will see ourselves as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God (1 Cor. 4:1). • We will share generously our gifts from God as individuals, parishes, and the Diocese.
5. Hope – Living in Christ with a joyful unwavering anticipation of receiving the fullness of Eternal Life. • We will pray daily for the spiritual fruit of hope for ourselves, our parish, and our Diocese. • We will participate in the Eucharist with hope and joy. • We will seek to be beacons of hope with a joyful attitude and Christlike perseverance. • We will trust in the Lord’s promise to sustain us in sickness, suffering, or abandonment. • We will rejoice and be glad when people insult or persecute us because of Jesus’ name.
