The matrimonial covenant, by which a man & woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole life. They agree to love each other as Christ loves his Church. The purposes of Matrimony are to perfect the spouses’ love for each other, to strengthen their unity, to make them holy, and to prepare them for eternal life.
